July 19-20, 2010 – Continuing Education: Cornell Floriculture Field Day
Nanticoke Gardens Inc. owner, Don Ferguson, believes that learning never stops. His love of learning about the latest growing technologies and the newest plant varieties leads him and his staff to attend seminars and events in various places. So, while Production Manager, Chip Shafer, was checking out new plant varieties near Lancaster, PA, Don was attending the 3rd IPM (Integrated Pest Management) In-Depth Workshop and 8th annual Cornell Floriculture Field Day events in Ithaca, NY. Besides viewing over 1,000 new plant varieties, the events included educational talks on properties for the best potting mix, prevention of fungal diseases, trends in landscaping, how to get the most out of fertilizers and plant growth regulators, and more.
An additional treat at this year’s event was the opportunity to meet Dr. Allan Armitage, a well known writer, speaker and researcher in the world of horticulture, and listen to him speak as he led a walk-about tour of the perennial gardens.
